" Advanced macromolecular engineering : from biodegradable vinyl materials to anticancer polymer prodrugs "

Dr. Julien Nicolas (Institut Galien Paris-Sud, CNRS UMR 8612)
Julien Nicolas completed his Ph.D. in 2005 at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris (France), where he studied nitroxide-mediated polymerization. He then did a post-doc at Warwick University (U.K.) in the field of polymer–protein bioconjugates. In 2007, he obtained a CNRS researcher position at Institut Galien Paris-Sud (Univ. Paris-Sud) in Châtenay-Malabry (France) and was promoted to CNRS Research Director in 2016 and leader of the team “Nanomedicines for the treatment of severe diseases” in 2019. His current research activities lie in advanced macromolecular synthesis and in the design of innovative polymer-based nanomedicines, in particular biomaterials, polymer nanoparticles and polymer prodrug nanocarriers to treat various diseases including cancer and the Alzheimer’s disease. He is (co)author of 100+ peer review articles in international journals, 7 patents and 13 book chapters. He serves as Associate Editor for Chemistry of Materials (ACS) and is part of the Editorial Advisory Board of Macromolecules (ACS), ACS Macro Letters (ACS) and Polymer Chemistry (RSC). He received the 2016 SCF/GFP award, the 2017 Polymer Chemistry Lectureship award, the 2018 Novacap award of the French Academy of Sciences and the 2019 Biomacromolecules/Macromolecules Young Investigator Award.
