" Lymphotoxin, a novel immune checkpoint of Treg suppressive activity "

Dr Magali IRLA

PhD, HDR Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML)

Dr. Magali Irla (CIML, Marseille) has a long-standing interest in the induction of T-cell tolerance that takes place in the thymus. She completed a PhD in Immunology focused on characterizing a gene expressed by TECs (called Spatial/Tbata) at TAGC, Aix-Marseille University. She performed a post-doc at Geneva University (group of Pr. W. Reith) where she studied mTEC homeostasis (Immunity, Nat Commun & Trends in Immunol). She also investigated the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in peripheral T-cell tolerance (J Exp Med). She was then awarded a junior group leader position at Geneva University where she studied the 3D organization of the thymic medulla at steady state and after BMT (J Immunol & PloSOne). Then she obtained an Inserm CR permanent position and joined the CIML where she studies mTEC and Treg biology (EMBO Mol Med, 2 Nat Commun).
